ok my skin is literally glowing today

skin check: plump & dewy

ok my skin is literally glowing today
woke up this morning and genuinely gasped at my reflection?? like who is she. i think the slugging i did last night actually changed my life. i layered my ceramide moisturizer and then sealed everything in with a thin layer of aquaphor and omg the results. my skin looks like it drank a gallon of water overnight. also i finally stopped touching my face during the day (it only took me like 3 years lol) and i think that's making a huge difference too. no new breakouts in over a week which is literally unheard of for me. the ordinary's niacinamide serum is still my holy grail. it's giving poreless, it's giving smooth, it's giving everything i need for under $10. we love a budget queen moment. note to self: do NOT skip sunscreen tomorrow just because it's cloudy. learned that lesson the hard way last month when i got a random sunburn in february. the uv index is always plotting.

retinol night gone wrong (but we recovered)

skin check: a little sensitive but healing

retinol night gone wrong (but we recovered)
ok so i may have made a tiny mistake. i used my retinol AND my aha exfoliant on the same night because i was feeling ambitious and thought my skin could handle it. spoiler: she could not. woke up with the tightest, driest, most irritated skin. like my moisture barrier said "i'm taking the day off." immediately went into damage control mode — stripped my routine down to just cleanser, a thick layer of la roche-posay cicaplast baume, and nothing else. no actives, no serums, just pure babying. honestly this was a good reminder that less is more with actives. i know better than this!! you would think after years of skincare obsessing i'd remember that retinol and chemical exfoliants are NOT friends when used together. but no. the girlies never learn until they feel the burn (literally). day two of recovery and my skin is already calming down. the cicaplast baume is doing god's work honestly. that tube has saved me more times than i can count. barrier repair is the real skincare main character. lesson learned: retinol nights are retinol-ONLY nights. putting this in writing so future me doesn't get cocky again.
